Sydenham Community Radio is a not for profit organisation, run by volunteers with a passion for Sydenham and its community. We’re a radio station for Sydenham and the surrounding area, with programmes for local people, by local people.  We play a variety of music, including: blues, soul, folk, hits from the decades, indie, reggae, rock and soul.

Our speech output covers local events and issues and we’ve interviewed many guests from our community, including artists and musicians and others coming from business, the environment and politics. If you would like to appear as a guest or regular contributor to a programme please contact us.

If you would like to find out more about the radio station, get to know some of our team and how you could contribute, you are invited to our social evening for new and existing volunteers on the second Thursday of every month. Please contact us for details.

We offer training to anyone that wishes to contribute, even those without previous experience in radio, so that they can produce broadcast quality programming on anything that might be of interest; for example, local history, issues affecting the community or specialist or mainstream music shows.

We hold quarterly quiz nights in the Golden Lion in Sydenham to raise vital funds for the radio station, the next will be in March. We are looking to put on other events in the community and recently had our first comedy and open mic evening.

There are three SCR branded collection points in Sydenham for your old mobile phones and printer ink cartridges. If you have any that you are no longer using, we would appreciate you depositing them at one of the following locations:

Golden Lion, 116 Sydenham Road, SE26 5JX
Kente Coffee Shop, 16 Sydenham Road, SE26 5UX
Mann & Co, 63 Sydenham Road, SE26 5UA

We are also collecting unwanted CD albums and sending them to Music Magpie.

We broadcast online and you can usually hear live programmes from 19:00 on Thursday and Friday, 17:00 on Saturday and 14:00 on Sunday; all times are BST. Please check the schedule.

You can hear any of our programmes from the previous month as they are added to Listen Again after broadcast. At the moment, you will not hear anything on the live stream between 22:00 and the start of the next day of scheduled output.

In July 2010, we were awarded a 28-day license by Ofcom to broadcast on FM to the local area and plan to apply for similar licences in the future, whilst continuing to develop our offering online.
